Essex Air Ambulance needs you!

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust attends hundreds of different events each year; however the Charity only employs a small number of full-time staff, so spreading the word across both Essex and Hertfordshire and educating people about the work of the Air Ambulance is a major task when we are such a small team. The Charity is extremely grateful for the committed volunteers who generously give their valuable time and expertise by attending events, giving talks and presentations and collecting donation tins.

If you have time and energy to spare and would like to support the Essex Air Ambulance by becoming a Volunteer please contact us on 0845 2417 690 to obtain a Volunteer Pack or alternatively complete our Volunteer Enquiry Form.

Jill Jennings is the Volunteer Coordinator responsible for managing and supporting the many cherished volunteers and says, “Our volunteers literally attend hundreds of local events throughout the year from talks at schools and organisations to running merchandise stalls at town shows and Christmas events.  Thank you to each and every one - their help and support is invaluable.”

We particularly need help in the following areas:

  • Managing merchandise stands at events
  • Fundraising Tin Collections
  • Public speaking
  • Cheque presentations
  • Special Projects (Use your particular skills and experience to help the Charity)

Where do you live?
Near Halstead

Why did you become involved in volunteering for the Essex Air Ambulance?
I became involved with the Charity through my volunteering as a First Responder where I first met the Aircrew of the Essex Air Ambulance.

What activities do you get involved in for the Charity?
I started off in the fundraising office filling envelopes and helping out with general office duties. This soon expanded into giving talks to local groups about the work of the Essex Air Ambulance and collecting cheques on behalf of the Charity.

Recently I was involved in the ITV Auction Party and had no idea what I was letting myself in for!  In all it took three weeks to organise and film the programme and for me they were great fun.
What is the best thing about volunteering for the Charity?

For me it is meeting the staff and other volunteers who are all working with the same passion to keep the helicopter flying.

What does it mean to you to volunteer for the Essex Air Ambulance.
We all pull together achieving something worthwhile whilst enjoying ourselves – Essex Air Ambulance puts the fun into fundraising!

Volunteer Survey

In 2010, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) joined forces with UserViews, a local research company, and conducted a survey in order to explore satisfaction levels of volunteers with the Charity’s communications and support and to determine what motivates people to volunteer for the Air Ambulance.
