Get Dancing for the Spectacular Strictly Air Ambulance
The extremely popular Strictly Air Ambulance event is returning to Brentwood for a breathtaking show starring James and Ola Jordan, celebrity professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing.
The Charity is calling on all dancing and ’Strictly’ fans to join them for this fantastic night out! Join Essex Air Ambulance and celebrity guests at the Brentwood Centre on Friday 2th March 2012 for a spectacular evening of dance and entertainment all to raise vital funds to keep the life-saving helicopter flying.
Hosted by Alex and Martin from Heart Breakfast, this fun filled evening will see six couples including our very own Air Crew Doctor Derek Hicks battle it out on the dance floor; performing two dances each to try and impress the judges. Working in partnership with Essex Air Ambulance, Chelmsford Dance Centre has been training the contestants in preparation for the event.
Special guests James and Ola Jordan will give a show-stopping performance on the night and will be judging the dance competition alongside Head Judge Phil Meacham of Chelmsford Dance Centre, Su Harrison from Heart Breakfast and Jane Gurney, CEO of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust.

Singing sensation Josh Dubovie will be providing the musical entertainment as well as taking part as one of the contestants. This is a chance for ‘Strictly’ fans and Essex Air Ambulance supporters to enjoy some fantastic dancing and world class entertainment all in aid of a very worthy cause.

Josh Dubovie is an international singer who's sultry tones have taken him as far as Munich, Orlando, New York & more. His credits include: Winner of BBC1's 'Your Country Needs You' where he was chosen by the public to represent the UK in the EUROVISION 2010 in Oslo performing in front of 125 million plus viewers. Dubovie also presented on BBC3 with Sarah Cawood & Paddy O'Connell during that same Eurovision. In Nov 2011 Josh was invited by Channel 4 to present during their entrepreneurial week. This involved presenting sessions with some of the Commissioners of Channel 4 & being filmed in front of a live audience. He is also a favourite of BBC Essex regularly being interviewed & profiled.
Dubovie's other credits include: appearing in Hollyoaks, Winner of 'Blues Idol', Title Role in the celebrity pantomime 'Aladdin' & winner of 'Search for a Star'.
Josh has also performed at many festivals & venues around Europe and in America. He has entertained many people such as 40,000 at the Basildon Festival, 25,000 at Stockholm Pride & 'warmed up' 17,000 'Race for Life' ladies in Hyde Park - which he thoroughly enjoyed as you can imagine! Josh at times performs with Keith Ball - son of Kenny Ball (and the Jazz men) & with Debbie Curtis and her 17 piece swing band. He has performed at some exclusive venues like Freedom Bar in Soho for the 5th Birthday celebrations for 'POP-ROCKTIC!'. Also, by the personal request of Mrs Stephanie Moore, he has performed for the past 3 years at the 'Bobby Moore Charity Ball'. Ross Ranson, who turned 50 last year, has 4 grown up children and is Managing Director of a successful Chelmsford based software company specialising in Till, Loyalty and Membership systems. ‘MemSec EPoS’ is the trading name of Active Workspace Ltd., a company he formed 21 years ago.
Ross enjoys sport, plays league badminton in Chelmsford, Braintree and Colchester Districts and has recently started playing for Essex Vets County Team (50s and over). He also enjoys golf off an 11 handicap. He has always enjoyed ‘Dad’ dancing and has done some social dancing before but this is his first competitive dancing event (except for a certificate in Morris Dancing at the age of 14!).

Freddie Tong is a Professional Opera Singer (Bass-Baritone) He was born in Hong Kong, Freddie went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after gaining a degree at University College London in Economics and Statistics. During his time at the GSMD, he gained a First Class honours degree, Masters in Music and graduated with Distinction from the Opera Course.
Since graduating, Freddie has sung over 30 operatic roles that have taken him all over the world. He made his debut with English National Opera in 2009 singing the role of Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and he will be back with ENO later this year, reviving the role of Nourabad in The Pearl Fishers.
Freddie is delighted to be part of tonight’s charity event, and would like to thank his family and Dr. Derek Hicks for their support.
Ben Milan-Vega: I have been dancing since the age of three years old. I danced with my sister Becky for 14 years and now dance with ex-Under 21 British Latin Champion, Anna Matthews. I am a 3 times finalist in UK Closed Under 21 Ballroom Championship and was ranked 2nd in England in Youth Ballroom, Latin and 10 Dance. I have represented England numerous times in World and European events and made the live Semi-Final on ITV1’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ I now help teach at my old dance school and at my University and hope to one day have a successful dance school in Essex.
