Essex Air Ambulance Dragon Boat Race 2010 

DRAGON RACE HELPS FIRE UP AIR AMBULANCE

Hundreds of people flocked to Hanningfield Reservoir on Sunday, August 29 to enjoy the spectacle of Dragon Boat racing and help raise around two thousand pounds for the Essex Air Ambulance.

The event organised by Essex Air Ambulance in partnership with Essex & Suffolk Water, raised £2,000 for the county’s life-saving helicopter.

 

Nine teams of 17 competitors took to the water to battle it out in the third Dragon Boat race to be held at Hanningfield Reservoir to raise critical funding for the Charity. 

The Hanningfield Flyers, a team that included many regular Hanningfield anglers, put in a fantastic performance rowing against a strong head wind and were crowned champions after putting in the fastest time.

Wendy Byland, Events Manager of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, said: “It was a pleasure working in partnership with Essex and Suffolk Water once again and I thank them for their continued support. Well done to all the teams that took part with great enthusiasm even in such challenging conditions! We are extremely grateful to everybody for their generosity and support and helping to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives across the County.
