Enjoy some of Italy’s most spectacular scenery while scaling its three famous volcanoes. We start with Vesuvius in southern Italy best known for the explosion that buried nearby Pompeii. An overnight boat ride to Stromboli is followed by a tough, steep trek of around 6 hours to the summit of the volcano which dominates this small island. The challenge culminates on the slopes of smouldering Mount Etna in Sicily, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It’s the longest and most difficult day of the challenge. Afterwards we celebrate our achievement before flying home.
Our very own HEMS Paramedic Chris Martin will also be taking part in this challenge of a lifetime. He had this to say... “Every day that I work on the Air Ambulance I have firsthand experience of what an amazing service Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust provides. By having a Doctor/Paramedic team on a helicopter we are making the difference between life and death for so many people across the counties. I am lucky enough to see the impact we can have on people’s lives, not just the patient but their loved ones too and it is for this reason that I want to support the Charity and do my part to help keep the helicopter flying by raising much needed and vital funds and really challenge myself by trekking 3 volcanoes.”

- A day climbing Stromboli with an optional trip to see the explosions in the night sky.
